Graces in Our Lives

Finding the Magic in the Now

Life moves fast—too fast for the busy individual balancing dreams, careers, relationships, and passions. It is easy to fall into the trap of living in one of two places: the regret-strewn past or the anxiety-fueled future. And in doing so, we miss the grace-filled present.

Ever planned a vacation meticulously, mapping out every detail? You’ve set the agenda, chosen the perfect itinerary, and then, as the journey unfolds, you are so engrossed in anticipating what’s next that you barely notice what’s happening now. ‘

Sound familiar?

Like holidaymakers on a flight, train, boat – too focused on their arrival to notice the breathtaking view just outside their window, we miss the gifts in the here and now.

This does not just happen on vacations—it is woven into our daily lives. We are caught up in endless to-do lists, striving for that elusive “perfect” moment or depending on people and situations to deliver fulfillment. But the truth is, grace is always present;

It is in the laughter of a friend,

The warmth of a morning sunbeam,

The unexpected kindness of a stranger.

It is there, even in the mundane, waiting for us to notice.

For me, recognizing the grace of the moment has been a practice in discernment—a conscious choice to slow down, pause, and truly see. It is not about abandoning planning or ambition; but about making space to savour the now, to grow, connect, and embrace opportunities as they come.

Ask yourself:

What are you focusing on that is robbing you of joy today?

How can you tune into the grace in this moment, right now?

The graces in our lives are not loud or showy; they don’t beg for attention. But when we choose to notice them, they transform ordinary moments into extraordinary ones.

As you read this, take a deep breath. Look around. What’s one thing you are grateful for in this very second? The present is rich with grace—if only we would pause long enough to see it.
