The Power of Choice – Are You a Duck or an Eagle?

Every day, we wake up to choices. Some are small—coffee or tea? Sneakers or heels? But others shape the very essence of who we are and where we are going. In this season of abundant opportunities, the weight of decision-making can be overwhelming.

But here is the thing: You are not just making choices; you are choosing who you become.

Consider the difference between a duck and an eagle.

A duck floats on the surface, quacking loudly, reacting to everything around it. It stays within its comfort zone, moving in familiar patterns, and relying on external conditions to determine its course. It gets by, but it does not break free.

An eagle, however, soars above the storms. It does not flap frantically—it glides, trusting the wind to carry it higher. It sees far beyond the present moment, locked onto its purpose with unwavering focus. When faced with challenges, it doesn’t complain; it adjusts its wings and rises.

In this era of limitless choices, we often feel stuck—caught between the ease of floating and the courage to soar. It is tempting to stay where it is safe, to be part of the noise, to wait for circumstances to change. But what if, instead, you embraced the eagle within you?

How to Choose to Be an Eagle:

  1. Clarify Your Purpose – Without direction, every choice feels confusing. Define what matters to you.
  2. Trust the Process – Eagles do not fear the wind; they trust it to lift them. Your journey will not always make sense, but trust that it is leading you somewhere meaningful.
  3. Rise Above Distractions – Ducks react; eagles respond with focus. Let go of what pulls you down.
  4. Take Decisive Action – The power of choice is in movement. Choose boldly and commit fully.

As you navigate your season of choices, ask yourself: Am I a duck, waiting for the waters to settle? Or am I an eagle, ready to rise?

Choose to soar.
