Dead Halt

The pandemic brought my busy schedule to a dead halt, as I am sure it did for many.

It brought the brutal fact home that I am an ‘all work and no play’ person.

I was so conditioned to working, and couldn’t remember the last time I had fun.

I got to thinking of what fun would be for me. Spontaneity doesn’t augur well with me. I am a scheduler. I was challenged to re-think my ME time by adding some fun and excitement to it. To pump in some adrenalin so to speak.

So out came my journal and I drew a blank.

Have you drawn a blank when asked to come up with a fun plan?

When is the last time you had fun? And I mean planned fun. Where you pull out your diary and block off dates, you make a budget, and you make plans to optimize that time.

I then remembered that I used to do this with my children when they were much younger, and I remember having so much fun, being silly, running, creating things, cooking, eating, swimming, jumping, dancing, laughing….there was so much laughter.

Some will argue that ‘planned fun’ takes the fun out of fun….that spontaneous fun is the best!!I couldn’t agree more. However life’s schedules provide for a very small window, if any, for fun. (at least for me)

So I purposed to jot down fun things to do, and to allocate time for them.

I am work in progress.

But one thing I know for sure is that life is short and I want to have laughed so hard by the time my number is called.

How about you?
