#Bittersweet Three Days

Love your family and friends fiercely.

❤Do so through being present physically and emotionally.

❤Do so through action and feedback.

❤Do so through listening and dialoguing.

❤Do so through words.

This love will carry you through the inevitable time when death comes calling.

#Death is final. The separation is gut wrenching.

This is the first festive season without Mum. Really bitter sweet.
So much of reminiscing of old times together and imagining what she would have to say about this Christmas. (Mum always had an opinion)
◾We were together for 3 days last Christmas and I remember her being so laid back and peaceful.

◾Looking back, I now know that she was saying her good byes, because she was gone by 6th April 2021.

◾She never alluded to her death (at least not to me), but her demeanour was telling. You see Mum was a planner, a doer….and at a beautiful age of 85, she was self-sufficient and full of life.

◾So…..laid back and peaceful was not how one would describe her. She was a force to reckon with.

We stayed in a cottage in Diani and chatted about so much. I wish I knew then, that this was goodbye, I know I would have kept her up all night.But it was not meant to be. What I do have are the three days last Christmas (23rd, 24th and 25th December 2020) forever etched in my mind as ‘special time with Mum’.
I loved her and continue to love her.

I miss her terribly and am comforted in knowing that she ran her race and completed it. She lived a full life.

If only I could be half the woman she was.

✨I have my life to live.

When I come upon ‘three days’ with a loved one, I plan to be prepared. I am listening.
I choose to love my family and friends fiercely.
