Shots fired!!

Shots fired!! To be specific 2 shots fired. I was out on my exercise walk and decided to take a route that I hadn’t been on in a while. Barely 20 minutes into it, and I found myself in the commotion. I was so scared and chose to keep moving. And as I did, I saw what I thought to be a plain clothes officer interrogating a man. (Let’s say that there were 2 pangas (machetes) in the said officers hands and he was asking the questions. Very quickly a crowd formed as I slipped by. 30 minutes later, I was crossing back the same route on my way home, and I picked various versions of what happened. Needless to say, they all conflicted with what I thought I saw and heard.

?Was it really gunshots that I heard?

?Was the gentleman correct in his assessment?

?Was the lady sure about what she saw?

Lessons learnt:

?? in a crisis, everyone has a version

?? it is important to control the narrative

?? whichever setting you find yourself in, let one point person do the talking

?? choose safety
